Community Engagement Events
PLEASE CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR UPDATES!
A successful Master Plan for Matt Garcia Community Park is made possible through active community participation. Outreach events are designed to give you a forum to let us know
what’s important to you and what you’d like to see in your new park. Those ideas guide the project process and become the basis for the proposed design. Community outreach and
engagement are pivotal components of any public project to ensure that the final plan accurately and holistically represents the City of Fairfield and its diverse residents.
The community engagement process included in-person events, online surveys, workshops, focus groups and more.

Past Events
Outreach for the Matt Garcia Community Park Master Plan included two pop-ups at large public events in the City and one open house-style event near the future location of the park. Over 250 attendees of all ages visited the booths, reviewed visual materials, engaged in conversations with the project team, and provided input about the park. Dot boards were used to survey the community and revealed their views on specific park elements, park concepts, and recreation programs.
Round 1 - What Do We Want?
Blues, Brews, & BBQ
Downtown Fairfield, April 23, 2022
The initial goal for outreach was to collect data on the community’s likes, dislikes,
needs, and wants in terms of park elements and amenities.
Round 2 - What Alternative is Best?
Farmers Market, Downtown Fairfield, August 4, 2022
Open House at Journey Coffee, One Lake, August 6, 2022
Input from previous outreach was synthesized into the design of three park concepts
presented to the community for feedback in this round.
Participants were asked to vote for their three favorite elements of each concept and
for their overall favorite concept.
